Another major way to a lower electric bill is to use florescent lights. They have gotten much better and many give off a similar light as regular bulbs. They also use around 25% less energy (sometimes more) than incandescent bulbs. Even if you only place them in less frequently used rooms such as the garage, laundry room, basement, ect., you will benefit. Doing this, combined with using a programmable thermostat, will result in a lower electric bill.
